The river Kaveri flows from its mouth at Talakaveri to its mouth in Tamil Nadu - on its way, it feeds hundreds of thousands of humans, and is the very life blood of the two states it passes through. From 1870 to this day, there have been acrimonious disputes between the two states, who have staked claims to its waters, their war of words often spilling into the streets, taking human lives and destroying property.
And through all this, the Kaveri flows quietly. Has anyone ever stopped to think about the pain in her heart to have her children squabbling for centuries over her love? 'Pyaasi' (the thirsty) is the story of Kaveri, in her own words. A lament of a helpless mother whose children forget that they are brothers.
